Join us for a day of book arts for children and their parents, tweens, and teens at Science Centre Singapore!
The Thistle Bindery, Bukurama Handmadebooks, Mariko Watanabe, Urban Sketchers Singapore, and I invite you to a day-long series of bookbinding, origami, and sketching workshops for children, tweens, and teens (ages 5 to 18).
I’ll be teaching “Make an Accordion Book with “Pop-Up” Flower-Fold Pages: A Class for Children and their Parents” for children ages 5 to 9 accompanied by their parents. In this workshop, participants will learn bookbinding’s basic vocabulary, its fundamental tools and their uses, as well as the materials (paper and adhesives) and techniques (folding and gluing) of the craft. Children and their parents will learn how to make an accordion book with “pop-up” flower-fold pages, a beautiful and fun three-dimensional structure.
T. S. Leng of Bukurama Handmadebooks will be conducting “Make a Pouch Book!” for tweens ages 10-13; Mariko Watanabe will be conducting “Make a Japanese Stab Bound Book” for teens ages 14 to 18; and Mabel Yap of Urban Sketchers Singapore will be conducting “Make a Botanical Sketch” for tweens and teens ages 10 to 18. Full descriptions of these workshops can be found here.
The day-long event will also feature live demonstrations of other, more advanced, bookbinding techniques by us passionate bookbinders.
Workshops are SG$10.00 each; register here!
