Festive Hongbaos by &plentymore

Lunar New Year, already? For the past few weeks, in my sleep-deprived state, I’ve been hunting for artsy/crafty, inspired-by-the-season, hostess gifts (aside from homemade pineapple tarts, of course). On a tip from Yu-Mei Balasingamchow, I discovered &plentymore’ s Festive Hongbaos.

&plentymore—AKA Elsie, Joyce, Ruai, Weiyan, and Xinnie—is a quintet of young, aspiring Singaporean designers who met while completing their final year honors thesis. Their hongbao, or red envelope, series showcases vibrant, happy photographs of the holiday’s delicious treats: bak kwa, kueh lapis, love letters, hei bee hiam crackers, nian gao, mandarin oranges, kueh baulu, and pineapple tarts.

These Festive Hongbaos are SG$5 for all eight and are available at a number of retail outlets around town, including BooksActually, The Garden Slug, and Group Therapy Coffee.

  1. I spotted this collection in the newspaper and fell in love with the bak kwa, kueh lapis and orange! These yummy-looking packs deserve a 2nd look and I’m sure would distract people from the contents for once!

On a side note, congrats dear on your new bundle of joy! Take care and enjoy confinement!
