Singapore Style

I’m always on the search for style inspiration. Here in Singapore, I turn to a handful of blogs that cover “street style” for my fashion fix. Two new discoveries:

SHETONISTA “chronicles people, faces, and style around and about Shenton Way in Singapore.” Shenton Way is a major throughway in the city’s central business district and many, but not all, of the site’s subjects are on their way to or from the office. The folks at SHENTONISTA clearly have an obsession for accessories; close-ups of bags, shoes, hats, belts, and jewelry in nearly every post. Follow SHENTONISTA on Twitter.

lilreddotfolks is not exactly “street.” Each post has a series of carefully staged photographs featuring a single subject “rocking [his or her] very own personal style” and a short interview. Photographers Franz and Vinz ask their subjects about their style icons, local hangouts, and must-have items. I just wish they would post more often! Follow lilreddotfolks on Twitter.

  1. Seeing how many people here are too lazy to break out of their shorts-and-flip-flops attire, these blogs will hopefully inspire more to trade in their casual sloppiness for comfort chic. :)

  2. Loving the “landscaped” photos on Shentonista together with the short captions. lilreddotfolks is as great with stunning pix of people like us! (OK, a bit more stylish than me.) Lovely finds!

  3. I discovered Shentonista recently and am going through cover to cover, as if it is a novel! Love being surprised by the creativity of some of our Shenton Way folks!
