AL&ALICIA by Alicia Ong

While hiding out in The Cathay, waiting for a monstrous afternoon rain shower to pass, I discovered AL&ALICIA, a casual and wearable label by Alicia Ong, at VOL.TA, a multi-label boutique.

Ong interned at Marc by Marc Jacobs and worked for J. Crew, DKNY, and Richard Chai in New York City before returning to Singapore to found her own label in 2009.

AL&ALICIA‘s latest collection, “Private Party,” may seem, at first blush, perfect for young rockers, artists, and party girls, but I think some of the label’s separates work, no matter what one’s age. Her craftsmanship is impeccable and she only uses the finest of fabrics (Japanese organic cotton, impossibly soft satins, and silky mesh jersey). I definitely see the influence of J. Crew, a label I love, on her work.

Shop AL&ALICIA online at AL&ALICIA (in Singapore) and eDressme (in the United States). Connect on Facebook and follow on Twitter.

  1. I first chanced upon this line on a magazine or blog and love how stylish and understated her outfits were, without them being over the top. They look classic and versatile enough to last through the entire year, through the seasons!
