3-Hole Pamphlet and 4-Hole Japanese Stab (Binding)

In our second* bookmaking class, we explored two binding techniques: the three-hole pamphlet and the Japanese four-hole bind (yotsume toji). For these structures, all one needs is paper, thread or ribbon, a needle, and an awl or a hole punch.

I think Japanese bookbinding is one of the world’s most versatile and elegant binding styles. In fact, it was the first style that I learned all those years ago.
